Where are the boundaries of the Ansley Park neighborhood?
Ansley Park is formed by the Atlanta BeltLine tracks and Piedmont Avenue / Piedmont Park to the east, roughly 15th Street to the south, and Peachtree Street to the east. At Beverly Road, the border goes back east and wraps around Ansley Golf Course to the Spring Buford Connector and the BeltLine tracks.
Brief history of Ansley ParkAnsley Park dates back to 1904 and has secured its spot as a Historic District on the on the National Register of Historic Places. Several leading Atlanta businessmen, spearheaded by Edwin P. Ansley, invested in a large plot of land just north of Atlanta. In purchasing the land from George Washington Collier, Mr. Ansley intended to build an urban oasis with streets wide enough for automobiles while breaking away from the grid structure of some previous garden suburbs. By 1930, the neighborhood was mostly complete and covered 275 acres.
How does the Atlanta BeltLine connect with Ansley Park?
The Atlanta BeltLine passes under interstate 85 at the northern end of Ansley Park and heads south, forming the entire northeastern border of the neighborhood. You can easily walk this part, which affords you expansive views of Ansley Golf Club and the Midtown skyline. Home Depot volunteers also helped reinforce an old railroad trestle soaring over a serpentine Clear Creek, which will be a wonderful green space before too long.
